About Run Briefing

  • What is Run Briefing?

Run Briefing is a weekly email that summarizes your running activity, progress, and trends. It helps you understand your training at a glance — without opening an app or exporting data.

  • How is Run Briefing different from other running newsletters or apps?

Unlike generic fitness newsletters, Run Briefing is based entirely on your real activity data. It connects to your Garmin Connect account to create a fully personalized summary.

  • How often will I receive my Run Briefing newsletter?

You’ll receive one briefing at the end of your training week. You can adjust that day in your account settings.

  • What kind of data or insights are included in my briefing?

With every report, we compare the last training week with the previous one to show you the changes in your training. We also include insights about your average pace, distance, heart rate, and power.

  • Can I adjust my HR and Power zones?

Yes, you can adjust your HR and Power zones in your Garmin Connect account. We will automatically update your zones when syncing your next activity.

Data & Integrations

  • Which running apps or devices can I connect?

You can currently connect your Garmin account to sync activities automatically. Support for Coros, Suunto and Polar is in development. Due to API license restrictions, Strava is not supported.

  • What happens if my data doesn’t sync or appears incomplete?

If recent runs are missing, your Garmin connection may have expired or delayed syncing. Try reconnecting your Garmin account or wait a few minutes — data usually updates automatically.

  • Can I manually upload activities or workouts?

Manual uploads aren’t supported. All insights are generated from connected data sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Does Run Briefing include non-running workouts?

Yes, we include all types of workouts, but focus foremost on running metrics.

  • How often is my data updated?

Your data is refreshed automatically as soon as the API of your connected device informs us about new activities. New activities typically are made available and processed within a few minutes of syncing your device.

Insights & Personalization

  • How does Run Briefing analyze my running data?

Run Briefing processes the FIT files from your connected account and extracts summary metrics from each activity. It then aggregates these over time to reveal long-term performance trends and training patterns.

  • What do the weekly trends (pace, distance, HR, etc.) mean?

Weekly trends show how your recent training compares to previous weeks. They help you spot improvements, recovery periods, or changes in consistency.

  • How can I delete my account?

Sign in to your Run Briefing account and follow the Delete Account instructions in your settings. This removes your profile, all synced data, and any third-party connections such as Garmin Connect.

  • Can I customize the insights I receive?

Customization is currently limited to choosing your preferred start of the training week and distance unit (km / mi). More personalization options are planned for future releases.

  • How are averages or performance metrics calculated?

Metrics like pace, distance, and heart rate are computed from your individual activity summaries. Run Briefing uses these values to produce consistent averages and changes over time.

  • What does “SMA” or “rolling average” mean in my summary?

SMA stands for Simple Moving Average. It smooths short-term fluctuations by averaging data over a fixed window (e.g., 7 days), making trends easier to interpret.

Newsletter Delivery

  • When are newsletters sent out?

Run Briefing is sent once per week, based on your chosen delivery day. You can adjust this weekday in your account settings.

  • I didn’t receive my latest briefing — what should I do?

First, check your spam or promotions folder. If it’s not there, verify that your Garmin data is up to date and your connection is active. You can also trigger a resend from your dashboard.

  • Can I view past editions of my Run Briefing?

No. We do not store previous briefings. Future versions may include a way to resend past briefings to.

  • Can I receive my briefing via another channel?

Email is currently the only delivery method.

Privacy & Security

  • What data does Run Briefing access from my connected services?

Run Briefing only accesses the Garmin Connect API to fetch the activity in form of FIT files. Therefore, only data included in the FIT files are used to generate your briefings — such as distance, duration, pace, and heart rate.

  • I unsubscribed but still receive emails — why?

Unsubscribing from the newsletter stops future briefings but may not affect essential account-related messages. If you wish to stop all communication, you can delete your account.

  • How is my data stored and protected?

All user data is stored securely on EU-based servers with encrypted connections and access controls. We never store your third-party login credentials. The access to Run Briefing is protected by a magic link authentication that avoids the use of passwords.

  • Can I delete my account and all associated data?

Yes. You can permanently delete your account from your settings. This removes all stored data, third-party connections, and activity records from our servers.

  • Does Run Briefing share my information with third parties?

No. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties. External connections (like Garmin) are used only for authorized data syncing.

  • Can I anonymize or hide certain metrics?

Not yet. All synced data is processed privately and visible only to you. Future versions may include privacy options for hiding specific stats or metrics.

Plans & Pricing

  • Is Run Briefing free?

Yes, Run Briefing is free and includes weekly summaries and core insights.

  • Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

  • Will I lose access to my data if I cancel?

No. If at some point multiple plans are available, you can cancel a future advanced plan, your account and synced data remain accessible under the free tier unless you delete your account entirely.
